The rodeo stock contractor is a rugged breed of man who spends his life with his animals. A solid string of bucking stock is a necessity to the rodeo producer and requires constant care of the animals. A complete string of rodeo stock includes bucking horses, bucking bulls, calves and steers, plus several saddle horses. Having that, you must also have land, feed, semi-trucks and fuel, veterinarians and general labor. All of these things are essential to the rodeo stock contractor.Roy Honeycutt had no idea it would turn out this way. Back in 1976 he started his rodeo stock contractor company, Honeycutt Rodeo Inc. As a former rodeo contestant and producer, all he did was take the things he liked and incorporated them into his own outfit. Since 1976, Honeycutt Rodeo Stock Contractors have been one of the few rodeo stock contractors to have been a part of every National Finals Rodeo and also has been chosen 23 times since 1979 to provide their top bucking horses and bulls for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Four generations ofhorses can be seen running the high plains of our Alamosa Colorado ranch, waiting their turn to show what they’ve got. "Some of the best stock in the rodeo business are raised here".As rodeo stock contractors we have an annual goal, simply put, "To provide the horse and or bull of the year, every year, from our own breeding program. We have around 200 horses and 40 bulls on our 3,000 plus acre ranch in southern Colorado. The blood line on some of our colts go way back to the Alsbaugh's Spark Plug which was the BareBack Horse of the National Finals Rodeo in 1974. Our most recent stud purchase is "Sparrow Hawk" from the Bar T Rodeo. Sparrow Hawk is the son of Roanie, the Saddle Bronc horse of the National Finals Rodeo in 1990. In 2000 we started our own Bull Breeding Program with "Candy Man". One horse to watch is Top Gun, a tall 17-year-old bronc who has the reputation of making money for cowboys who stay on the full 8 seconds. Top Gun was ranked in the Top 5 for the Bucking Horse Finals at the 2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. It’s not just Roy these days running the business. It’s his wife Virginia and their children, Jerry, Scott Janet, and their families right down to Roy and Virginia’s grandsons, Tell, Orrin, Dawson and Riley. Everyone contributes here at Honeycutt Rodeo Inc. Roy and his family take great pleasure in watching their livestock buck while generating high scoring rides for each and every cowboy. Roy and and his family, work hard to ensure every Honeycutt Rodeo Stock Contractor Company production is top quality. "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" are the words that have a great impact on the entire Honeycutt Family and we would like to leave you with the following thought. If we meet, and you forget us, you've lost nothing. If you meet Jesus Christ and forget him, you have lost everything
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
